Conversation Psychedelics, Ego Theory, & Research Developments – Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris – HPP 102
Conversation about Psychedelics, Ego Theory, and Research Developments With a Leading Researcher - Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris - HPP 102
Speakers: Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris, Keith Kurlander, Dr. Will Van Derveer
Psychedelic research is gaining momentum, and Robin Carhart-Harris with his team at Imperial College, London is one of the most prolific groups pushing the science forward. In May 2021, the New England Journal of Medicine published their head to head depression study of an SSRI vs. psilocybin.
In today’s episode, we are joined by a pioneering neuroscientist, Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris. We dive into conversations around the effects of psychedelics on brain networks, the nuances of ego, self, and other, and exciting developments within the research.
02:49 Revealing the depths of the unconscious mind
11:35 The default mode network and what role it plays in mental health
18:31 What the future holds for psychedelics and psychotherapy
22:41 Where are we in psilocybin and clinical research?
28:37 Understanding what the psychedelic experience is
35:13 Dissociation, presence, and how psychedelics ties in

I need more content like this. I'm sick of all the woo explanations that people spread online, many from people who've not so much as touched a psych in their life. This is important work, very cool stuff.
Asking the mushroom "What is gravity?"
Insight from a 6 dried gram P.Cubensis trip.
"You have asked this countless times before but you are unaware until now that you have ever asked it before, for you believe this is the first time you asked us what is gravity?"
For you, it has only been a few decades since you were born, your memory is wiped every time you're born, for us, it has been trillions of years since you asked us this, each time slightly different circumstances, we will explain it again, but you will ask the same question again because after you die, you are born again in the new universe after all the potentially infinite number of insides become as one inside again, the next great cycle, unaware that anytime has passed at all."
Everything that is NOT the inside is constantly changing.
The universal inside is the same changeless inside that's always the present moment and the seat of your consciousness, and the stability of our constant memory.
The inside cannot change, it is permanently the absence of space and scale.
The at one with everything experience is realizing that the inside, "inside you" is exactly the same omnipresent inside of the entire universe.
The smallest outside is the expanding energy spherical that is the heat exchanging half cycle until the smallest sphere of energy collapses back through its inside, this is the gravity half cycle, it happens over and over at the same universal frequency, the most rapid frequency of the universe, "essentially now".
The next spherical scale-out is the proton, the proton behaves almost exactly the same, oscillating expanding, and contracting but cannot collapse through its inside as that is already happening at the smallest scale.
All other frequencies can therefore only be slower and larger in resonance, the potentially infinite mix is reality, patterns form in synchronicity, life is a kind of metabolized memory subject to change, we are memory.
The universal largest outside is similar to the universal smallest outside, but of course, the slowest and largest frequency, the largest sphere of energy expands out while it is under heat exchange cycle, but at some point begins to collapse in, gravity cycle gets stronger as the universal largest sphere of energy accelerates, collapsing getting smaller, until it collapses through its inside, but there is no halting this inertia what happens next is a brand new BIG BANG, a new universe is born as it expands away again heat exchange renewed.
