While acknowledging this cultural shift "is gonna get weird" and carries real dangers if postmodern values become virulently anti-modern, Phipps insists we must "ride the tiger" of this transformation rather than resist it. He contends that this consciousness expansion is essential for moving beyond the "disenchanted universe" of materialism toward a foundation that recognizes consciousness as ontologically real—ultimately leading to his vision of re-animating our "once dead, rocky, indifferent material universe with the richness of life, the magic of consciousness, and the fullness of deep meaning." The excerpt concludes with his strategic imperative for the integral community to support healthy postmodernism and avoid becoming "worldview partisans" in the culture wars.

Carter Phipps lays out his central thesis about the psychedelic renaissance as a cultural catalyst that’s fundamentally changing what he calls “the waters of culture”—the invisible assumptions that shape collective reality. Drawing on insights from his own psilocybin experiences, he argues that when millions of people access expanded states of consciousness, it removes the protective “veil” that modernism placed over reality to guard against superstition, allowing deeper dimensions of consciousness to re-emerge.

Beautiful! I get every bit of this. I am an astrophysicist with a background in quantum physics, complex systems psychotherapist, computer scientist, and long-term educator in the indigenous tribal college movement.  What folks in the integral movement don't get, and I told this to Keith Witt who said he might follow up on it, is that indigenous peoples deeply understand this. That's why indigenous knowledge is re-emerging. It's not way in the back and development it is at tier two. And one thing I want to point out is that, while it's true in complex adaptive systems that it doesn't take a majority to make a major societal shift, it still in the idea of linearity, locality, and particularity. Deep consciousness is beyond particularity, it's the field, it's non-locality where everything is in complete total communion. Let the dragon loose. Psychedelics is only a stepping stone. As ram das's teacher said when he took a huge load of LSD and had no effect, if you're already in Detroit you don't need to take a bus to Detroit 🙂 contact me (My YouTube name@gmail) if you want connection to deep thinking indigenous leaders to have a conversation. Leroy Little Bear, amethyst first writer, Greg Cajete, Nancy Mary boy. There are more. Keep going in this beautiful journey. We're doing it and we're not going to take 250 years. We're exploding right now into the dragon Land.
