This lady is right
Get over yourself lady
No there were many more when you first then 5 I don't like this lady
Peruvian here. I'm going to comment in one point she made.
How disrespectful. My family is from the poorest region of Peru, still Honesty is THE main value my parents have ingrained in me since forever. Dishonesty is not part of the Peruvian 'culture milieu'. How rich of this 'gringa' to suggest that.
Of course… she's talking in her language in London to an audience where she presumes there wouldn't be any Peruvian around, so likely she feels 'safe' to talk like that.
Are gringos assumed to have money? Yes. Is it in our 'cultural milieu' to cheat on them? No. She obviously encountered crooks and my heart goes out to all the foreigners that find it hard to discern when someone is honest and when someone is trying to take advantage of you. I can relate because I also found it hard to discern honest from dishonest people in my first years in Europe. But I'm not making cultural generalisations based on that.
I think it's hard for her to recognise that she was taken advantage of by dishonest people. Instead she tries to reconcile the fraudulent behaviour by brushing it off as it being a 'Peruvian thing'. She was naive like a catfish victim but doesn't want to see her teacher as cunning.
Don't take me wrong. I can understand and I very much encourage warnings against disingenuous shamans/maestros and crooks – they do exist – but she actually goes to justify dishonesty by making it pass as idiosyncrasies of Oh poor Peruvians. Well, thank you but no one needs that patronising attitude.
Very disrespectful, patronising and dissapointing on the Breaking Convention Committee.
Instead of ordering chacruna it would probably be better if you are gonna order supplies to go with one of the many other sources of DMT and Harmaline. Sure it wont be the traditional brew however id rather that then depleteing the supply of chacruna and etc.
