I think those societies had a lot more going than just shamanistic practices. Saying the were flaws in a past society doesn’t mean shamanism shouldn’t be explored. That’s a genetic fallacy and a means by which you could discount all cultures, including our own
Tearing the still beating hearts out of unwitting participants is the essence of utopianism.
It does piss me off how psychedelic enthusiasts romanticize the idea that shrooms will bring world peace when these cultures and others used them during war. Even the movie Beasts of No Nation showed psychedelic usage of warfare.
Don't you think Terence knew about these cultures? Psychedelics are like yin yang. They have a dark and a light side. Intention is one of the most important factors that decides which side you will land on.

Honestly, just listening to people that advocate for others to do LSD, DMT, etc, you can kind of tell that they’re missing something. I think it kills the soul and allows for easy demon possession, worse than most other drugs because people claim it’s “safe” and “non-addictive” or “helpful”.

McKenna often talked about "brujeria", dark practices and abuse of such techniques. So please stop spreading false information on the internet. A Mckenna giving a thumbs up to Berserkers?
