“Psychedelics crosscut so many interesting domains. They’ve been used for time immemorial by indigenous cultures. In our own Western cultural history, they really exploded on the scene in the 1960s, and were associated with radical changes to society.”

@WaffleHouse-w3w says:

Sounds good. It could work wonders, with the right therapist/clinician. At least with mushrooms, Because we treated them as crime for so long, we’ve created more need for therapy than ever, that much is for sure.

@yiranimal says:

There is so much hype around psychedelics, and some of it is actually true. But one has to realize it's in vogue, and has been for some time, to talk about how psychedelics radically changed one's life for the better.

Prince Harry took ayahuasca, was enlightened by it, and then went on to slander his family for a 100 million dollar payout. Brian Rose of London Reel fame took ayahuasca and overcame his addiction to alcohol, and then went on to raise funds for his supposed battle for free speech and subsequently pocketed the money. Jada Pinkett Smith seemed to think disclosing her ayahuasca healing would cast her in a new and hip light, absolving her of her traumas and tarnish -this is the most common refrain we hear. Alan Watts, early promoter of psychedelics went on to drink himself to death. Timothy Leary was a morphine addict in the latter half of his life. Terence McKenna eventually scared himself away from psychedelics. And then there's Sid Barrett, Vince Taylor, Brian Wilson, Peter Green, etc. Moby dropped acid as a young man and suffered anxiety from that point onward. So can a single dose of psychedelics change one's life in ineffable ways? You betchya.

@denvermadison9052 says:

Cautionary tale folks..if you feel like your last trip broke your brain don’t do it again. If you suddenly switch your self identity from I to we for a year when talking about your individual self do not take more acid. If you get psychosis and see a man in the corner of your eye even when not tripping don’t do it again. I thankfully didn’t do it again but my brain for many years has felt it’s on an edge an edge it can fall off at any point.

@dragansimeonov7007 says:

@heygreydey says:

10:38 The scientist doesn't like the word "hallucinogen" yet cannot stop reductively calling these ancient medicines "drugs." This is on some level a pharma strategy to "discover" a continent of wonder and healing that humanity was already an heir to. Ah progress!

@cashbuyer4221 says:

Chaperone is a good term…

@fafafooey8776 says:

It's like trying to convey to someone how real a vivid dream was. To you, if was so real and to them, it was nothing.

@Easilyswayed says:

The first time I do anything it radically changes my life

@Packedlucy says:

Damn reading these comments I wish I could give u good trusted acid. I know people think I’m crazy, but I know people living in the Midwest to the cities can all benefit

@Packedlucy says:

I love hearing people’s psychedelic trips it’s one of my favorite storytelling . I have also wondered for many many years if it is possible to change everything with one trip, I know there’s wonky acid and dmt and Changa etc but I think I had some fairly life changing clean love like acid from sf when I was I college and yeah it’s never been the same

@larryfulkerson4505 says:

Wow, I just discovered that I'm sitting at the exact center of the visible universe. Another gummie is in order.
