Something ya gotta keep in mind is how far ahead Jimi was. There's concert footage of people at his concerts just standing there, mouths wide open, struggling to comprehend what they were hearing. Acid helped, but it wasn't all acid. Jimi had that effect. It's why the band was called The Jimi Hendrix Experience. First time I heard Vooodoo Child (on headphones very loud) and Machine Gun I did the same.
