Maria Papaspyrou – Entheogenic Integration And The Transcendent Function
Entheogenic experiences are often referred to as ‘journeys’ for they can journey one to great inner and outer depths. However, the end of an altered state is often when the journey really begins. This is the journey of integration, of assimi- lating into consciousness the insights and openings one has encountered in their experience, in a form that can enrich their everyday lives, relationships, and sense of self. The myths and symbols we bring back from these deep soul journeys are part of our psychic life, imbued with vital meaning. During integration our task is in translating the archaic speech of vision into a meaningful narrative, if we are to harness the powerful directional energies of the unconscious towards greater health and wholeness.

Before I learned about your book Psychedelic Mysteries of Feminine Creativity, Ecstasy and Healing I heard Terrance McKenna discuss the inherent feminine perceptual and sensorial advantages including visual acuity due to natural DMT released in their bodies, especially around childbirth. Then I wonder if this process happens earlier and goes further than that.

Throughout history there've been many accounts of & from girls and women who never had intercourse that spoke of powerful visions that are more psychedelic than merely religious.
Ms. Papaspyrou, I would love to know your opinion about Saint Hildegard von Bingen, who began having her experiences as a child.
Perhaps this was true for the young Anandamayi Ma who as a child was so detached while experiencing non dualistic oneness with nature well before becoming the spiritual inspiration to legions of people in India and throughout the world.
