“On the one” is a phrase commonly used in funk music to describe a tight and syncopated rhythm that emphasises the first beat of each measure. It is often associated with the legendary James Brown, who used the phrase to direct his band during live performances.

In “It’s on the one” the dancers take the audience on a journey throughout the essence of “the one,” paying homage to its rich cultural heritage while infusing it with a fresh, modern sensibility in a celebration of funk dance and a testament to the enduring power of this iconic art form.

With a passion for creating and sharing dance, music and art that makes people move, the Ghetto Funk Collective is a group of creative individuals who became family – to create a unique movement, sound and experience within their mutual love for funk culture. Not just as genre of music, but embracing its lifestyle and the feel of it.
