Founded in the late 1980s, MAPS has spent decades working to get approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD and related conditions.

The payoff for those decades of work are coming to fruition. The FDA is expected to approve therapy using psilocybin—the psychoactive ingredients in magic mushrooms—and MDMA—the drug also known as ecstasy and molly. And Oregon and Colorado have decriminalized the recreational use of plant-based psychedelics.

____________

“Welcome to the psychedelic ’20s!” Rick Doblin, founder of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, or MAPS, proclaimed in his keynote speech to open the Psychedelic Science 2023 conference. At the event organized by MAPS in Denver this June, a reported 13,000 people gathered to talk about what seemed like every possible topic related to the productive use of these substances.

Rick you’re right on it. An element of the desire for authoritarian/strong man is a reach for safety that they can’t find inside in themselves. A projection of fear/anxiety.

psychedelics to heal the world

@janetjacks3406 says:

How frustrating the slowness of the medicinal application with the FDA, yet it if was a dumb arse supposed vaccine it would fly through. I appreciate the patience of Rick going down that route as I know it's painfully ridiculous and ultimately it will be applied so narrowly it will be too restrictive and expensive for most people to have access to it but even so this does change for the better for the rest of us going into plant medicine healing path.

@wpf312 says:

Makes so much sense

@matejovich says:

While I agree with Rick on psychedelics, he is a communist and a devout Marxist. He should immediately.move to North Korea or Venezuela and do his work from there lest he be deemed a hypocrite.
